Celena is a pure gem of a woman. I knew immediately when we met for coffee at Great Lakes in Midtown, I was going to love working with her. She’s easy going, down to earth, and has impeccable style. When she hired me on to do her floral, I was thrilled – not only to be doing beautiful things for her, but also to finally get to work in the historic Guardian Building in downtown Detroit.

We went with a structural and bright design for her floral to complement the gorgeous architecture in the building, and Celena totally gave me stylistic freedom to play! Monstera leaves featured heavily in her aesthetic, so we went with that plus some other tropical greens, but kept traditional floral so as not to go to far to an Island vibe.

Also, I met Amanda Seifert, her photographer, for the first time. And let me tell you…she is SO good. Just peep these images she caught. I mean, the emotion and pure joy captured here is stunning.

Also, they hired a Zaafa – a Mediterranean drum band, to play them into the reception. Like…what? I want one of these to just follow me around all day long.
